When we say that Knox Creek was founded by a group of friends, we really mean it. Our board consist of college roommates, 3rd Grade Push-Up Competition Rivals, and best friends. Our journey has come with countless twist and turns, but our friendship and our mission has remained the same... building a place where every kid has a chance to discover the Joy of the Gospel!

Kep Pate was born in Atlanta, Georgia and attended Clemson University where he met his wife Sara Bailey. They got married New Years Eve 2016 and have two children, Henry and Lily Stocks. Kep graduated from the McAfee School of Theology with his Masters of Divinity in 2017 and his Doctorate of Ministry in 2022. Kep is an ordained minister and has served in congregational ministry in a variety of context for over a decade. Out side of the church Kep has served with both the North American and International Mission Board.
Through out his ministry, camp has always been centerpiece of his journey. He worked as seasonal staff at YMCA Camp High Harbour through out High School and College. Kep later returned to High Harbour in 2019 as the Site Director and the camp hosted just over 5,000 kids that summer. While in college Kep became involved with Summer Youth Celebration (SYC) in Alberta Canada. SYC is the largest Baptist Summer Camp in Canada. He was a director there for 10 years, serving in a variety of capacities.
Currently Kep and SB live in Raleigh, NC with their two kids.
Annie Westbrook is the Youth Pastor at Johns Creek Baptist Church. Annie graduated from Mars Hill College before earning her M.Div. from Mercer University’s McAfee School of Theology with a focus in Pastoral Care and Congregational Ministry. Annie met her husband Brian while serving a church just out of seminary. Currently, Annie and Brian live in Cumming, GA with their dog, Puck.
Spencer Carter grew up in Johns Creek, Ga, and graduated from Northview High School. Fun Fact: At Northview, Spencer held every cross country and track distance record. Spencer is an active member at Johns Creek Baptist Church, where he serves in the Youth Ministry and Video Production Team. Currently, Spencer is a sales associate at Graybar and lives in Roswell, Ga.
Walt Barnett grew up in the foothills of SC and spent two summers on staff with Camp Chatuga in Mountain Rest, SC. Along with his camp experience, Walt also worked several summers as a commercial whitewater raft guide on the Chattooga River. Currently, Walt and his wife, Merry Ellen, live in central-Virginia where he is teaching math at a

Derek worked for E&J Gallo Winery for 7 years where he focused on sales, marketing, brand development, and customer acquisition. In 2020, Derek transitioned to the medical technology field specializing in advanced Endoscopy devices. Derek’s enthusiasm for civic outreach started at Clemson where he was VP of Community service for his organization. From there, he worked with Big Brothers Big Sisters in Charlotte. Derek, and his wife Alyssa, recently moved back to the upstate area to be in Pendleton, South Carolina.
